Cream Teas
Reply Quote

Can anyone tell me where I can eat a really good cream tea? I haven't indulged for quite some time, but seeing all those green fields around at the moment, I imagine the cream must be tasty!

At the risk of becoming unpopular, I admit I have always eaten my cream tea the Cornish way round - jam first then cream..any objectors? Should I try it the Devon way?

Hello Run Rabbit Run (or can I call you Rabbit for short?) - I wanted to use a fun name but couldn't think of one!

Anyway, back to important matters.  I was at the Devon County Show today and was invited for a Devon cream tea.  There was lots of Devon clotted cream and big bowls of jam.  People were ladling it on lavishly and I couldn't help noticing that the cream did go on first in all the cases I saw.  The terrible thing is that I bypassed the scones completely and helped myself to two large slices of what appeared to be home-baked fruit cake - delicious!  The question is - am I persona non grata now for ignoring the proper cream tea bit and shall I have to leave town - you know, get out of the neighbourhood?

Please give me your best advice on how I should proceed?
