The Home Front by Teresa Driscoll

So the husband's solicitor has been on reference this month's Home Front. He wants me to point out what a good job hubby has made of fixing the garden table. I am very happy to confirm this. The table is fine. I am not to mention the seven hacksaw blades he used up in the process.....
As I've said many times- it's a good job I love him! ( the husband, not his solicitor).
Ps Do leave any tips, stories or feedback for me here. It's always nice to hear from you.
Best
TERESA

How about this one. Years ago, having just moved into a new house, my self-employed husband, who is very keen on having music where he works, was routing the wires from his stereo system from the living room down to the basement room to his studio. On one side of the room by the door, there was a mysterious 4 x 4 'beam' running from floor to ceiling which, when tapped, appeared to be solid. Rather than run the wires around the outside, he decided to drill a hole and push the wires through, so set to with his Black and Decker. The drill went through quite steadily, then quickly through an inch or so before he encountered resistance. He kept on drilling - then suddenly, boiling water started jetting out from around the drill. The 'beam' was there to disguise the water pipes! There seemed to be no way he could turn off the water from the hot water system at the top of the house, so had to wait until the immersion tank had emptied - all over the living room floor - and as the previous occupant had put down lino which wasn't fitted and curled up at the edges, the place quickly turned into a shallow hot water swimming pool. Since then he's been VERY circumspect about checking before he drills.
