Heres a copule of energy saving tips for the kitchen -
dust of those pan lids at the back of the cupboard and put them on your saucepans whilst cooking, you'll find you'll be able to simmer on minimum heat settings and pots will come to the boil far quicker as well as cutting down on condensation.
Don't be tempted to folow recipe instructions that suggest 'placing a pan of water on to boil', instead use the most efficient item in your kitchen to boil water - the kettle!

Another tip for eco-living - we have a large (and successful) compost heap. Our immediate neighbours who have no gardens do not, so we've encouraged them to give us their vegetable waste for us to compost. We get a bigger heap and there should be enough to let them have some back if they want to repot house plants or whatever.
