Is the current legislation to protect our coastlines adequate, or should we be adopting much tougher measures?

I don't know about the legislation.  What does worry me is all the fuss that was made about the folk on the beach but much less attention seemed to be paid to the hundreds of oiled seabirds and the damage to our World Heritage coastline.

All the press seemed to be able to talk about was the rights of the ship owners not to have their property damaged or misappropriated.  Well, the integrity of our coastline and the lives of our seabirds are far more important than a few containers of fancy vehicles.

Time folk got their priorities right - is the shipowner paying for the damage I wonder?

I think that it is of vital importance to protect our coastline.  It is all too easy to take the unbelievable beauty we enjoy in Devon for granted.  Not only along the World Heritage coastline but the whole of our wonderful coastline brings huge benefits to our community. Dangers to our wildlife and our beaches are well-known and I believe that we should all support whatever steps may be necessary to ensure Devon's coastline is protected.
