We have a number of deer that regularly visit our garden here on the edge of the South Hams but I am reluctant to give out the location for fear of attracting the wrong sort of attention to them. It's amazing how prolific they are in the area. It's just a matter of keeping your eyes open... and, of course, getting up early in the morning!    Report

My parents emigrated on the £10 sea voyage offer in 1956 when I was three years old. My dad went out ahead, and my mum and I followed when he had a job. We stayed 5 years (too hot for my mum) and I have never been back, though I do have masses of childhood memories that need to be 'put in their place'. Went to Kambala School, lived on Old South Head Road, and remember knocking out my front teeth on the dodgems in Luna Park under Sydney Harbour Bridge, riding an elephant in Taronga Park, learning to swim in the freshwater pool in the rocks alongside Bondi Beach and a baby shark being washed in on a wave! And not forgetting all those dreadfully painful bindii on bare feet! Had a great little boyfriend too - Lance Chapman was 5 and the son of a Sydney Harbour Pilot. Hmm. Long time ago...    Report
