Sustrans cycling network - Lottery bid:your vote counts!
Reply Quote
79,000 tonnes of carbon emissions could be saved each year with a £50m grant from the Big Lottery Fund for new walking and cycling links. That’s the equivalent of the average annual emissions of 79,000 motorists cut through improved local networks proposed all across the UK.

Areas set to benefit in the South-west include Tintern, Bristol, Nailsea, Backwell, Bath, Wilton, Salisbury, Bournemouth, Weymouth, Ottery St Mary and Newton Abbot.

Sustrans’ ‘Connect2’ Lottery bid would directly benefit six million people in communities around the UK, including 3,000 schools with more than one million pupils. The money would be used to encourage active travel by developing new local walking and cycling routes, building bridges and improving neighbourhood environments.

Sustrans, the UK’s leading sustainable transport charity, is up against 5 other projects in the Big Lottery’s Living Landmarks: the People’s Millions competition. The winner, will receive a single grant of up to £50 million, and will be ultimately decided by TV vote in December. To find out more about Connect2 and register your support visit www.sustransconnect2.org.uk or text Connect2 to 80010.
